Under qualified Realtors of Clever Real Estate
Before I sold my house, I had an interview with two realtors. The first had a much lower estimate than what we were hoping for, so I went with the second who was well versed with the market and had creative advertising techniques. Sadly, he did not care about me and didn’t represent me properly at all during the negotiations.
He first set an unreasonable asking price but then later dropped it. He then started telling me to take the lower offer and give some buyer credits on top of it. It seemed like closing the deal was all he wanted to get done and not deliver me the price I deserved; it was much lower than expected. In the end, I do think that I sold my house for much less than what it was actually worth.
For the first open house, I was the first seller and he came a few minutes before the buyers were set to arrive. This did not put him in a great light. He also marketed the notion that filling for Q4 was a great idea but when we received only one offer, it proved otherwise.
At every step, it was always going to work out, but when push comes to shove, it did not work how he promised. Instead, it showed how little faith there was in him. Now, I understand why choosing a lower commission meant choosing a realtor of a much lower standard. I had high hopes for Clever Real Estate, but it’s safe to say I will not be returning.
