Exceed Auto Brokers Advertising Misrepresentation, Fraud, Deceit
A little over three weeks ago, I purchased a 2015 VW Beetle and Eddie said it has all the recalls taken care of. However, the car still has an oil leak, and to make matters worse, the car is missing all of the necessary temporary tags and plates. This makes it impossible to drive to Eddie’s dealership. He hasn’t answered any of my emails and messages after the purchase, making this experience increasingly frustrating. On top of that, Eddie keeps refusing to give me the owner’s contact information. I’m closer to resolving this issue but still have some work left to do. I have now noticed a change in this statement after making the repairs that are required so that the vehicle will be able to drive and pass state inspection in Texas.
I’ve included the invoices which come to almost $750. The car received a large frontal impact during the state inspection. The repairs done did not include the passenger side turn signal’s bulb and connector, resulting in it being left off. The entire wiper system, including the bottle, pump, hoses, and connectors, were also parts that required the front bumper to be removed for installation. In Texas, these have to be done first to pass a state inspection.
This was on top of the $136 I had to pay for an oil leak that developed while the car was being delivered from the dealer to my house, which resulted in me spilling oil all over my driveway.
It’s pretty obvious the dealer had plans for me to never be able to bring the car to an inspection station. Most likely the reasoning behind the car being provided without a temporary license plate is due to them wanting to make the process easier for themselves.
We, including myself, have not heard from Eddie, the salesman, after purchasing the car and most likely I will not.
When buying this car, the seller assured me that he had done all the necessary work and it was ready to drive. Had he fully explained these concerns to me, there is no way I would have made the purchase.
So that I would not have to do anything after the vehicle was delivered, he offered to drive the vehicle to his local VW dealership, where he took care of the recalls himself.
In all honesty, Eddie said the recalls were completed, but he took it to the dealer for good measure. He claimed the dealer had no parts for him to perform the recalls so they left the car without doing any of them.
My recommendation would be to not visit that dealer because there is no reasoning behind my encounter other than these individuals are dishonest regarding the vehicles they sell. Your money will be taken and you will be handed an AS-IS vehicle which they will never want to hear about again.
It is more than obvious that they have zero intention of fostering any kind of relationship with their customers.
